Switching between Europe and the US

Can anyone tell me why it takes so long for the TIFF when I travel from Europe to the US or vice versa? The time takes me typically from 5-20 minutes even after I do a Reset GPS with the local country/city location.

Is this normal?

Is there anything I can do to speed up the process?

Anyhelp will be appreciated.

It is normal - if you move a GPS more than a few tends of miles it won't know what satellites are overhead when you next power it up. It therefore has to try to get a position with its saved information, fail, then go hunting for satellites to find its position from first principles.

I know how to give the GPS a helping hand under these circumstances in TomTom Navigator, but not in CoPilot. Maybe someone else can help.
