Hi All,

Is it possible to use a USB stick with a XDA PDA?

Im assuming if its possible i would need a mini USB lead for it to work or some other adaptor cable ( a bit like the FM transmitter one)?

Never seen it done before, but would be handy to be able to plug in a portable drive for more space.

Cheers

It can be done but very few devices actually support this capability, the HTC Athena is one such device that will do this as it does support USB Host, most devices simply use the mini USB connector for convenience and its compact size.
There is also a USB port replicator that can act as a bridge between two USB slave device but it costs a small fortune and isn't without its own issues - save your money and grab a large storage card, if your device supports SDHC memory cards you can order 16GB for under £50 these days - Mike

Thanks Mike,

I didnt actually know 16GB miniSD cards are available now ( where have i been )

I have a 8Gb SDHC card working well, so I will assume my device should work with a 16gb one?

Looks like ive got some ideas for me birthday and crimbo anyways!

Cheers,

If your device works with an 8GB card it will be quite happy all the way to 32GB when they become available - for now the 16GB card is the best bet and for under £50 on pre-order you cannot go far wrong if you really need that capacity while out and about - Mike
