|
|
Looking for a Satnav unit I can use in the car on on a Harley motorcylce. The waterproof units are probably what I am looking for however the cost of these units are out of my range.
Was thinking about maybe a TomTom or Garmin Nuvi unit and a suitable container like this http://www.ram-mount-uk.com/ram-hol-aq2.htm.
I have been using a Navman 310 for a few years and to be honest its rubbish! Maybe I, by opening the case and replaceing the battery, have caused the electronics to go bananas but its a very poor unit and wouldnt buy another.
Any advice on units and containers is welcome. |

Garmin have just launched a budget Nav unit aimed at bike/car use, the nuvi 500. It's a nuvi like device in a waterproof case and is aimed at motorcycle/car owners. _________________ Darren Griffin - Editor |

Bluetooth headset? Good question though, BT Hands Free is not included and no other mention of BT so I don't know. _________________ Darren Griffin - Editor |

I was a bit surprised that the Becker didnt show up in the blog from the IFA . Th3re are so few motorcycle suitable GPSs that a new one at a fraction of the cost of the current ones would seem quite a big deal .
Will we see anything on this one because it certainly is of interest to me .

Darren ,Becker launched the Becker crocodile at the IFA a waterproof GPS with large screen suitable for motorcycles . In fact the whole press release is targeted at motorcycles.
Perhaps you should bend their arms for a test unit or 2 , I would gladly test one for them _________________ Asus Zenfone 2 twin sim, Garmin Zumo 550, 660 and pocketgps speed camera database

[Edit - when I wrote this reply, I thought you were on about the Zumo 550 - why would you by a Nuvi for a bike? I read the specs and it doesn't even come with a bike cradle - just a suction mount which is no good on the car.]
The bike cradle for the Zumo 550 contains a plug for an earpiece and one for a microphone. The car cradle has a speaker and mike built into it.
I know this is true because I have one !!!

The nuvi 500 is a budget option, it's waterproof and there is an optional mount for bikes. _________________ Darren Griffin - Editor |
