TomTom XL - POIs downloaded such as Premier Travelinn and Little Chef - are they based upon postcodes or lat/longs? The reason for asking is that we were directed into the next door garden centre carpark for the Travelinn, and an auction centre a quarter of a mile away for the Little Chef. Or are they just not that accurate? |

do you mean POIs downloaded from PGPSW or the ones built into the TomTom itself?
personally i've found the in built tomtom poi's (well, teleatlas pois) to be rubbish and unusable.

I had trouble with the Premier Travel Inn POI when I went to Fort William, it took me to the wrong road entirely. I believe they are based on postcodes.

yep most poi's are done by postcode ,but if you think about it poi's have been neglected part until they put them up here .. they should get better over time as people start correcting the errors and put them in the correct places eg the road entering the poi you need and not the actual building etc as sometimes that leads to tomtom sending you on a wild goose chase around the poi you want _________________ TomTom 5001 |

I don't know if it was the case for your experiences, but some Premier Inns and Little Chefs are a bit "Off Street" - say on a main road in the middle of not much else. I'd guess that in those circumstances, the Postcode is for the start of Postman Pat's "walk" - maybe a mile or so long between isolated places - in some cases the "walk" may start at the Premier Inn, others at the garden centre.
If you are able, using the POI submission page to correct them will improve the database and everybody will be grateful. _________________ Dennis
