I'm about to get a secondhand one and have a few questions:

1. How to get inside the unit (without breaking anything!) - I want to upgrade the battery to 1950mAH (from Ebay) as I intend to use the unit for walking with memory map.

2. Recommended screen protectors for this unit? prefereably a non reflective one of good quality for outdoor use in sunlight.

3. Any upgrades/tips regarding this unit? Bearing in mind the primary use will be OS maps for hiking.

4. What is the largest capacity SD card it can take?

5. Any particular software that can improve performance when using GPS?

Thanks

1) I would be a little bit wary of updating the battery, Some people report increase in battery size and pressing on the screen and causing distortions, As for getting inside you just undo the retaining screws less one i think on the Gps flap, the point to watch is disturbing the wires to the GPS receiever.
2) I have used the 168 for over two years without a screen protector, the mio is does not seem to be susceptible to scratches and any pda is not very good in sunshine, I am now using aswell an Asus a696 with antiglare screen and it is worse in the sun than the 168.
3) I would thoroughly reccomend updating to win2003se if its not already done, which gives you landscape mode in the OS and can be configered on one of the buttons.
4) I only ever used max 2gb card, it certainly will not run the latest high capacity sdhc cards, but I understand that some high capacity old format cards are now available, but cannot give you an answer on these.
After well over two years use my buttons are now a bit sticky, but battery still seems to be holding up well and in my opinion a very usefull and versatile unit, Hope this helps.
Edit for spelling

Add to previous post, my feelings would be to consider an external battery extender, but this would of course depend on the battery condition in the Mio.
