tomtom one v2 europe.
i seem to have a nice short "warning gatso 30" but all others are more long winded "warning gatso ahead, speed limit 40 miles an hour" etc etc.
which speed warnings can i download from here that are like the shorter ones and how do i install them to be the default ones.
have i got to delete the old ogg files off and then re configure all the cameras again or will it happen automatically???
many thanks.

I made a complete set of shorter (less wordy) soundfiles including the Pmobiles. These are the Liz W set. Three options, with a loud siren prefix, with a quieter siren prefix or without any prefix. Add the .ogg files in the usual way and the sound files you already have will be over written and will not need to be re configured.

Check your PM.

The "Simon" set are also much shorter/to the point.

My favourites are the Kate european ones. Is there any possibility of getting similar Kate ones for the UK.

I'm using the Simon ones, but would prefer a female voice as a contrast to Tim for the directions. I find liz too strident, Kate is so much more gentle Love it

It can certainly be done IF anyone can remember who "Kate" is!
When I re-did all the voice sets for the website, most of them ended up with a description of who made them and where the voice came from, but there's nothing to jog my memory for Kate!

EDIT: Doh! Embarassed Kate is one of the standard UK TTS voices isn't she!
Shouldn't be too difficult to do then. The only thing is, I think the originals were done using the better quality Kate from a Go 910, and I don't have one of those.

If someone can create the TTS speech (just the relevant "xx miles per hour" bits would do), I can edit up a set.

I presume you need someone with a Go 910 to do that Andy, otherwise I would do it in my 720 since i'm the one who asked for them, if you tell me how.

Ah, if you've got a 720, so long as you don't want a chime/siren on the front AS WELL as the voice, then you can just type in the warning you want on the "warn when near" set-up page for each camera type (in other words, not using the ogg files at all).

If you DO want a chime, what I did was type in the text, then record voice alerts via the line out of the Go onto my PC and edit on the sound effects there (easy for me, it's my job) then re-save the results as new ogg files..

Thanks Andy, I might work on that, I don't want any sirens or chimes. But if I type in the warnings, will I have to have Kate selected for the instructions for the warnings to work?

It will work with whatever computer generated real voice you have chosen at the time. If you have a "real" voice it won't work.

That's what I was afraid of, I want to keep using Tim so I'm back to hoping that someone can create a set of UK Kate warnings that I can download.

Calomax, I think you'll find you can use Tim for directions.

When you select a human voice you get the message "You have selected a recorded human voice. Human voices cannot read messages or warnings aloud to you. Would you like to choose a computer voice for reading messages aloud?"

If you select "Yes" you can then choose Kate for messages and warnings.

Thanks Anita.

DOH Embarassed I think it was me who posted some time ago that you can do that, and I am using both now and have even got POI warnings selected.

I think I'm still in an .ogg mindset and not thinking about these warnings as being generated within the device.

Further to the above, on my Go720 running v7 you can definitely have a "Real" voice for navigation AND a "computer" voice for warnings.

If you select a "real" voice, you get this screen:

But I have reason to believe that some v8 software doesn't give that option.

Can anyone say if the released v8 for the x20,x30 ranges still allows that?

It's exactly the same as you've shown on my GO720 with v8 software and v805 map, Andy.
