Nemerix II or Serf 3

Hi, I have just bought a vehicle tracking system which uses the SERF 3 chipset and (as usual) someone tells me I could have bought a system with a better chip i.e. Nemerix II for an extra £50.00.

Have I shot myself in the foot as all other specifications/features appear pretty much the same?
