I'm def using Liz v2 speedzoned, the verbose one, but I'm going to give Mullets short version a try. I'll also try 'Disable Voice' again on the way home this evening & see if I get total silence again. I wonder if TomTom have ever produced 2 units that work in exactly the same way |

Well mines a 720 which is exactly the same as your 520.
Don't forget you can run a demo route round a corner and past a camera to test it, you don't have to wait until you are actually on the road. Just keep the demo speed around 200% (above 300% and the voices don't play). |

Already had a PM dialogue going. I increased my Liz short (less wordy) version by +5db for Ian to try. |

I never thought of that, cheers |

I tried 'Disable Voice' on the way home & had no sound at all & exactly the same when I ran a Demo at 200%. All sounds or nothing |

Bizarre....
The results I gave for mine were not from memory, I actually set each scenario up while I was typing and ran demos in each case.
Can't understand why yours is different... |

Andy....this probably has no relevance to the issues you are discussing in this thread. Even still ....
Yesterday, I was driving with no route set. I have one poi set up with a warning sound while on route. Correctly, the poi flashed when near but no sound was emitted.
Then, I set a route and travelled it for a few minutes. I heard my sound warning while on route, as I should have.
Then, I cleared the route so I was just driving. I **still** got my sound warning for the poi even though the preference was set for only on route.
So, dunno.......maybe some slight deviation from the norm in your case or other poster's case has caused the discrepencies between the two setups?
Clearly.......some glitch in the firmware is causing poi's to warn when they shouldn't (from my experience yesterday) so .... |

Hmmm, if it makes any difference, I have "warn only when on route" ON for all my POI warnings and always have a route entered. |

Success!!! Last night I installed the ‘Liz short + 5db’ that Mullet provided & ran a couple of Demo’s with complete success. This morning I tried the various options on the way to work & again everything works as it is supposed to, so many thanks to Mullet & everyone else who took time to help. It’s a shame though that TomTom didn’t incorporate a sound level control like the one Andy_P suggested & I will be contacting them about it!! |
