Hi, please can someone help!
I've downloaded some poi's to my tomtom, i can see them when opening the map folder with my pc. But they do not appear in my poi menu on the tom tom when trying to navigate to them.
There seems to be only two files, a binary file and a bitmap file
When ive used poi edit in the past this also created a setup file for each poi.
Do i need this extra file? How can i create it?
What can i use to create this extra file and how do i use it?
Am i being stupid?
I've tried it now on two different tomtoms with the same result and its driving me mad.
If someone can offer some advise that would be great.
Thanks |

Navigate to/ POI then select the next option try POI near Home, press the right arrow key lower right icon) and scroll through the list of all your POI files, is the category listed and selectable using this method?
If they are not listed what device are you using and which map? I have also moved this to a more suitable forum section - Mike |

Yes I have tried this and they dont appear, through the tom tom screen.
I have tried on a Tomtom one and also a tomtom 910
I copied the files to the GB map where all my other poi's are stored that i can navigate to.
This noticable difference is the ones i can navigate to have a setup file, bitmap file and binary file, when expore the sd card (one) or hard drive (910)
Were the new poi's added from pocket gps only have bitmap file and binary file.
Thanks

Did you unzip the downloaded files before copying them to the device? _________________ Anita

I can confirm that you DON'T need the "third file" ONLY the .ov2 and .bmp, so your problem lies elsewhere. The extra file (a .ver if I remember correctly), is just used by Home to tell you what version of TomTom file it is.
What TomTom model and software version are you using?
There is a limit of 100 user-added POI categories on v6 and early v7 software.
Later v7 and v8 software allows a variable number dependant on model and available memory (upto 169 on a Go 910 or Go720 for example)
The ONLY accurate way to check this is to count the total number of .ov2 files in your map folder (including any TomTom sppeed camera files or any Mapshare files with CAxxxx.ov2 or PAxxxx.ov2 filenames).
If you have 100 or over, try temporarily removing a load to just leave some that weren't showing up, then do a re-set and see if they magically reappear. |
