Spoken address - suddenly not working!

I've just bought one of these TomTom 530s after many happy years with the original Go. The thing that impressed me most was probably the spoken address bit. It worked, but as soon as I've used the map guarantee and downloaded the latest maps, it's stopped working.

I press the button, and the TT goes through the motion "State City" and all that, but it can't hear what I'm saying! It seems that the microphone is switched off or something. I've googled this problem, and I can't see anything, and TT's online help is as useful as a chocolate sunlounger...

Any ideas, chaps?

Have you tried the reset button? Before you go changing things, that might just be worth a try.

If that fails, do you have a recent backup?

It sounds a little like something has got confused and if you have a recent backup, you could try copying the Mapsettings.cfg file from the backup onto your device.

The Mapsettings.cfg stores all your preferences, Home settings etc, so some people say it's always worth keeping an up to date backup copy of that for this kind of thing.
