Would these be car race tracks, horse race tracks or dog tracks?
Thread moved to the POI forum section as it has little to do with POI Capture - Mike |

I'd be inclined to go with the Motor_Racing_Circuits.ov2 file. Most car venues like Oulton Park support motorcycling races, but you could use something like POIEdit to remove the ones you don't want.
If you know of other circuits, submit them and I'm sure they would be added in the future. _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |

Hi, Thanks for that,
Yes I am aware that most support both.
They don't seem to be listed in the 318.000POI's also done a search for Motor Racing Circuits, but still unable to find them, any idea where they are hiding , !!
Many thanks

Listed under recreation, there are 41 circuits in the list.
There is a separate poi for go cart circuits - if you feel the need for shorter circuits like

Hi Ned1,
On the POI Selections page, choose your Device for the type of file you need, then your Country and under 3, Select POIs, They are under Recreation, Motor Racing Circuits.
Hope this helps. _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |

You should copy them to your main map folder.
It will be called Western Europe, or whatever map you have.
You should have 2 files in the download, one called .bmp and the other .ov2
I have some in the POi folder as well, I think it is for the TT ones. I have downloaded some POI from the TT site, and they seem to go into this folder.
Hope this helps. _________________ Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100. |

how does one actually search for say Silverstone Racetrack on the Tom Tom XL?
it appears you need to put the city in which you want to locate the POI
is there a way of locating the same without knowing the city??? _________________ 2008 Tom Tom One XL (UK/Europe) |

Yes, you can.
They used to show the entire list, but when v7 software came in it now only shows you the nearest 24 entries to whichever location you choose (near home, near me, city etc.)
But the SEARCH still looks at the whole list. So select ANY of the place options (eg "near home") then tap on "Find" and start typing in "Silv...".
So long as it is in there with those letters somewhere in the name, it wil find it. |

im running version 8 at the mo
i just cant find the "recreation" and "motorsport" options
what im doing is this...
Navigate to...
POI....
???
All the POI's from the 300+ download appear to be there but how do i find say the racetracks - it isnt in the list?
Also should say Burger King / McDonalds be in there too??
Cant find them either???
EDIT:
they are under restaurants - is there any way of having the logos show up instead of restaurant logo?? _________________ 2008 Tom Tom One XL (UK/Europe) |

Woah!
The TomTom can only manage between 100 and 192 user-added POI categories (depending on model).
If you have tried to load 300 plus, it will simply ignore some of them (not necessarily the last ones you added either).
You need to have a think about what you really need and delete a load.
As for the icons, you can only have one icon per CATEGORY.
So if you had a "McDonalds" category, you could have the logo.
but if you have a "Restaurant's" category, with say both McDonalds and Burger King in it, then they have to share the same icon. |
