Updating TT6 Maps on PDA

I'm looking at updating the maps and when I connect with TT HOME it tells me to make sure that there is sufficient space on the memory card. But there isn't because the existing maps are there. Will it let me save the download to my PC and then carry out some sort of update process or do I delete the existing maps before I download the new ones? Could someone clarify the process for me.

Use Windows Explorer to take a backup of your entire SD card then delete the maps fromt he SD card and buy the new maps. After they have downloaded take another backup of the SD card (do not overwrite the old backup though) just in case something bad happens to it.
I wouldn't recommend taking the backup using TT Home as it is not the most reliable backup tool.
