Before I put POIs and indeed by the camera database here, I need to understand how the Custom POIs work on the Nuvi series.
I have the POI Loader.
I understand that you can't load custom POIs over a number of sessions. So if you install a set of files they will overwrite whatever Custom POis are on the machine at that time.
But there are some things I'm not sure of
1 - Out of the box the Garmin has quite a few POIs (services and cameras already). I can see the Cameras in the POI folder but the other services petrol, train stations etc are not. Does this mean that they are hard coded in the Sat Nav software.
2 - If I load petrol stations as custom POIs and the standard ones remain does this mean there will be duplicates in the system.
3 - If I load Petrol Stations as custom POIs where they appear in the 'My Location' when you click on the car icon. This is a really usueful function that shows Hospitals, Police Stations, Fuel and Roadside assist close to your current position.
Cheers,

They are coded into the map data and can't be removed, edited or updated.

Yes, but in two seperate areas. Also the icons are of different sizes so it's easy to tell the 2 apart.

No, they will be listed under the CustomPOIs in order of distance away from you. |

On the 760, you can find them in the "Extras". Click on "Where-to" and scroll down to see "Extras". I am not exactly sure for the 660, but I guess Extras is there somewhere. |
