Brand new Navi 760t here.
Stock firmware was 2.70! Upgraded using web-update to 3.10.
Tried PaulB2005's route - 1 Upland Road causes trouble on my system too! Just showing it on the map then zooming in and out is enough to crash the system.
Downgraded to 3.00 firmware - zooming into and out of 1 upland road is fine.
So much for that update thanks for the heads up PaulB - we're off to the EU for while, I'd hate to find my expensive new GPS resets itself over and over again! |

Just wondered - does your new 760 come with the SiRf Star III chip or the MTK one - in Systems Settings about it will display 2.60m (MTK) or 3.00s (SiRF) |

Seems to be MTK - 2.60m [sweet, I had no idea there were 2 versions! iirc MTK locks on quicker/better than Sirf3, ne?] |

yabbas - Did you have any POIs (inc Speed Cams) installed at the time? Do you know roughly how many??? |

Only speedcam POIs on the device were the standard Cyclops issue ones. (Also updated UK Cyclops cams using the free 30 day trial.)
Other POIs include the whole MaFt collection.
I had bluetooth enabled.
That's about it, none of the pgs safety cam ones (yet...still wondering if they're worth investing over the Cyclops ones!)
Upland Rd crashes my system on 3.10 and doesn't on 3.00. I'd hate to imagine what sort of scenario I'd need for it to crash in real life tests just as I need it! |

Cheers.
Do you know how many POIs that was? When you load them with POI loader it should say at the end. If you could reload them to get the number I'd be grateful. I'm trying to get the info to Garmin once i have more meaningful data....

I've had the same problem. I work in Brentwood and as I drive towards Wilsons Corner my 760 switches itself off. I turn it back on and a few seconds later it does the same thing again. Each time I drive through that area it switches off. It also happens on the slip road going onto the A12 at the Shenfield end of Brentwood.
I'm going to see if I can revert to 3.0 |

Do you know how many POIs you had loaded?
It definitely seems to be location based (i.e. certain points on the maps trigger the problem).
I just wish Garmin Support where more responsive. With other outstanding problems / bugs they don't acknowledge anything and then once I've just about given up i get an email that doesn't really address the problem or one that says it was fixed and then another that says they are working on it......
edit: spelling and clarification.

I don't know the actual number and I can't check exactly because I've just removed some.
I had the camera database, and then the following catagories from the POI database
Food and Drink
Fuel
Supermarkets
Cash Machines
I _think_ it was around 75k |

Hi
I have the same problem with my 760t, it keeps crashing and freezing.
I do have my own custom poi installed which is around 20K, any more and the problem gets worse.
Could someone explain how to revert back to 3.00 .
Cheers all. |

I've tried to work out how many POIs it takes to trigger the problem but i can't. I loaded various numbers and had 3 routes past points i know trigger the freeze / crash. Sometimes it would pass one point with a low number of POIs and would crash, then i could pass it with more POIs and it would be OK. Others would only crash with high numbers of POIs.
I also had my first "alert whilst not on map screen" crash today but that was with 3.00 If you don't know it when you get a POI Alert such as a Speed Cam but you are not on the Map Screen the unit can crash. |

Same problem.... Nuvi 760T
Updated firmware from 3.0 to 3.1 and subsequently had repeated freezes (on external power) or switch-offs (battery).
Routes were around Newcastle Leeds and York. No problems on M1/A1 between cities, frequent problems in town centres.
Also noticed failures at same points on particular route i ran several times.
Since getting home, simulating this route also crashes device, though not as often as it happened when actually driving the route.
Simulating PaulB's route from 1 Upland Road also crashed device.
I am using Garmin speedcams and complete MaFt POI database, with SIRF.
Called Garmin who advised it was likely my software upgrade had "corrupted something" so suggested I:
Install 3.0 firmware
Perform Hard Reset
Upgrade to 3.1 software
I did this then re-installed MaFt POIs.
PaulB's route from 1 Upland Road now works fine.
Not yet had chance to test physically. [/list] |

After going back to 3.0. hard reset, and re-install of 3.1, the device now ran PaulB's route fine on simulation. However, now I've been out on the road, it froze before I got to the end of my street. I'm going back to 3.0 and will sit this one out |
