Formating a Cf card

i havr had some trouble lately with my Cf card filling up with data but the data added couldnt be seen

so i have just formated the card in my card reader with fat 32 , is this ok or should it be just fat

my device ipaq 3630 says the expansion card is empty although in file explorer theres files on it

is it just that i formated wrong

solved

re-formated to plain old FAT , slower loading but at least the ipaq now sees the files and reports space properly
