Hi!
I suspect the answer is no but if you don't ask......
Is it possible to add TMC to this device. i know there is an input for an external antenae so wonder if a TMC antenae might work and if so, would the software make any use of it (I believe non-UK versions have a built in antenae so thought maybe the software was TMC ready).
If by some miracle it is possible, can anyone suggest an antenae?
Thanks!

According to the spec
Quote: | Also Looket G8 offers a built-in TMC version model which supports the function of TMC (Traffic Messaging Channel) as option, so drivers will be able to access their own destination faster than before with up-to-date traffic information where TMC service is available. |
Also
Quote: | High Performance Built-in GPS Antenna
Optional External GPS Antenna
Generally Looket G8 provides excellent high sensitivity and gets GPS reception so quickly without an external antenna even in the difficult situation like urban canyons, foliage, etc.
But, some special metallic windshield coating of vehicles may interrupt the GPS signal itself passing through the car windows. SysOn Optional External Antenna will be so helpful to boost GPS signal reception just by being placed on the uncoated upper side of the windshield.

So it appears either the unit comes with TMC, or not. I suspect the antenna is just for an external antenna if you get poor GPS signal and not for TMC. |

.... and another website says
Quote: | The difference from its predecessor Looket G7 is that Looket G8 has built-in TMC |
and another says
Quote: | TMC function (optional) |
Is there a manual or an official website for the manufacturer?
I suspect you have to buy the unit with or without TMC although if you are lucky you might be able to add it on like, i believe, some TomToms can... |

Thanks both. I have spoken to Looket and the internal TMC'd G8 is not retailed in the UK and you're right, the purpose of the antenae jack is for an additional antenae for weak signal.
Not being an expert in such things, I was wondering if a TMC capable antenae would do the job as I'm guessing the software is TMC aware as when you download the upgrade from the Looket website, it's not querying which G8 you might have.
Thanks
