Hi, first post so ill say hello to everyone first! :D

Iv got an Ipaq 3630 and have just got hold of a cheapish navman jacket for it. (1000 i think it is)

the navman software works fine (although most of the time takes forever to initially lock onto the satalites Sad

but when i attempt to install tomtom navigator 2 it comes up with the following error:

'tomtom navigator does not support the connected device type. Aplpication manager will make the application available for installation when a supported device type is connected.'

I checked the tomtom website and it definately stated that it was compatible with this ipaq model. I'v also read reviews on the internet that say it works fine. All the maps, speech etc, all install fine, it just wont install the actual navigator application itself.

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot!

Not all is lost. You simply tried to install the wrong compilation - you need the one for the ARM processor, and for whatever reason the installer didn't find such a device.. Make sure your iPAQ is working properly with ActiveSync before you try to install TomTom

ah, that could explain it. so there are different versions for pocket pc depending on the type of pocket pc. ipaq being ARM for example?

Thanks again.

yes, iPAQs have an Intel StrongARM processor. Most applications come compiled for three processors, ARM, MIPS and SH3

WindowsMobile2003 only runs on ARM/ PXA processors, so newer PocketPCs most probably need the ARM compilation
