Other Camera Fines!

Welcome to the digital age, now digital cameras both still and video have such clarity, a bill was passed recently to allow police/councils the power to use them to enforce the law! Although speed cameras have to be of a aproved type (gatso,monitron,specs,truvelo) to give you penalty points, other cameras can be used for more manditory rolls! These include Box junction, Parking, Mini cab offences, Smoking in a Company Vehicle/Workplace, Stopping on red route, Hard Shoulder offences (one of our drivers stopped for a pee), Using mobile phone/SATNAV, Weight limits, Hitting Railway bridges ect! apart from mobile phone which i'm not sure about the other offences and more you wont get points just a fine! but more concern should be on exactly who is issueing the PCN! most of the above wont be the police but councils, in london most traffic wardens are council employee's now! Be carefull challenge the PCN if you think your right! Remember Police dont activly raise revenue openly! Councils i'm sceptical about!

Thank you for your email requesting either video or sequentual picture evidence for pcn xxxxxx, unfortunately we dont have this to hand as this was way back in febuary. Our department is very busy, we did attempt a search but the months data in question is archived! In light of this we will not persue the penalty charge! but we will draw your attention to the road traffic act in relation to this offence. I have sent a copy for you to pass onto your drivers. No future lapse will be handled lightly.
