You could try a pin reset |

From memory the 920 occasionally did this if you still had a route planned when you turned it off, try using the "Clear Route" button before turning it off and see if that makes a difference - Mike |

Hmm. My 930t just did this. Luckily I heard it saying "Turn around when possible" though the case. The battery is showing nearly dead so it must have been on for some time. There must be a route set for it to say that.
I will clear the route as suggested above and see if that fixes my problem too. |

Clearing the route does not seem to make a difference, my 920 turns itself on when ever it fancy's, bit embarrassing when you are in a meeting and Kate tells you to take the next left. |

Nowhere near as embarrassing as when I was told to "turn around when possible" when I was in a cubicle in a busy gent's toilet!
Especially as I use the male "Tim" voice.... |

Off topic I know, but this reminded me of what happened to me last week in a shop, pulled up outside and popped my TT into my shirt pocket, walked into the shop picked up a paper and went to the till, at the till was a really nice looking and classy woman. The next second my TT with a male voice setting on high volume said "turn around when possible". The womans face was a picture and I was stood there with a red face, frantically trying to explain that I had not just said that but it was the my sat nav in my pocket. The woman walked out of the shop with a frown on her face looking behind her shoulder at regular intervals and me still explaining the the cashier that it was my TT |

Sadly, I have found that clearing the route is not a reliable cure (and it's an irritation if all you want to do is the same as Andy, plus maybe a coffee mid journey). _________________ Dennis

I shall never understand why TomTom haven't by now incorporated a physical on/off switch, either with or without the button, so you can turn it off completely when you are not going to be using it for a while. |

Some people think the switch marked with the international power icon is the power on/off switch. I can't understand why. _________________ Dennis

My 930 turns on by itself too but I think for some reason its bluetooth.
When I disable bluetooth on my phone or the TomTom, it doesn't do it.
I am probably wrong as I only did this a couple times but it seemed to stop it. Now I'm going to actually pay attention and try a few tests. |

I think the answer is for TomTom to issue an update to their software which causes the device to emit a strong sound whenever it is booting up so that you know it's switched itself back on again.
In case you're not listening, or are deaf, or it's hidden away somewhere soundproof, or not within your hearing range, it should also incorporate a question "Do you wish to start your GOx20/x30?" and if it isn't answered by YES within 3 seconds, switch off again - the default setting should be NO so that an inadvertent press of the screen in your shirt/trouser pocket or purse/handbag during your ablutions would stop it.
This solution would save TomTom from having to cure the "switching itself on again" bug.
Not long ago, mine managed to switch itself on and redial the last phone call I'd made just from jiggling around in my pocket - yes, I know that sounds improbable, but it actually happened and I found myself being greeted by my latest customer from inside the depths of my clothing. Scary!! _________________ Dennis
