|
|
I have the 200W with UK mapping (latest version of maps, I have checked on the Garmin site). I want maps of France for my holiday this summer.
Question 1:
Is this what I need?
Garmin City Navigator NT Europe Map Update 2008
Question 2:
Or worth paying a little more for the maps on SD card already?
Garmin Mapsource Version 10 NT 2008 Plug & Play Europe Map SD Card
Any help or advice welcome! Thanks in advance! |

I would have thought putting it on your own SD card is cheaper. Even if you do have to buy one. Also I believe you can't copy the maps from the card they come on - so if you want to have other stuff on your card (e.g. MP3s etc) it's a problem. _________________ Phil |

Thanks Phil!
Just discovered the DVD that Garmin sent me when I registered the nuvi a couple of months ago . I used this to update the UK maps, but it's clearly got the European maps on it too (Map Update 2008 City Navigator Europe NT).
I assume that I can't just use the European maps on this DVD - by putting them onto an SD Card, for example - so how could I use them? Purchase the licence from Garmin?
Of course, I'm willing to TRY copying the right files onto an SD card, just not clear what I would need to copy and where to put it/them! |

You assume wrong. You can use the European maps. You will need to buy a blank SD card; 2GB is comfortably big enough to hold all of Europe. You then use the MapInstall application that will be on your computer after the map update to copy the bits of Europe (I loaded everything except the UK) you want to the SD card. |

Will this work for all maps? For instance, I have a 760T with the UK and Europe maps. I make the occasional trip to the USA. Could I purchase the USA map update from Garmin and load it onto an SD card to use on these trips? |

No I don't think the US map update will help if you don't initially have US maps. Probably best to buy US maps on SD card; they are usually significantly cheaper than European maps. |
