Sorry for my late reply. Just got back from holiday.
I have heard other people say the same thing i.e. they had mixed emotions on completing the walk. Mind you, turning round and doing it again might be a little much for me!

We didn't venture far on our hols. We took my two daughters and my two grand children (4 and 2) for a week at Primrose Valley on the east coast of Yorkshire. Great for the kids and I enjoyed it too 
I hadn't heard of the Dingle Way (I thought it might have something to do with the Dingles of Emerdale Farm fame!). Just googled it and found it's in Ireland, 110 miles. Looks/sounds like a great walk. You must let us know how you get on. Do you have a website listing your walks?

Hi again Paul.
I spend my w/ends away in the Lakes etc to get a break from our grandchildren 
Although the group that I walk with have a web site (40swalkersnorth) I personally don't at the moment, although my son said he would put one together so I can put our c2c pics and story's on line, but that's a bit like waiting for xmas.

Ahhh, the Lakes. One of my favourite places although I must admit I haven’t been over there for a while. I checked out the 40swalkersnorth website and noticed a section on the Wainwright’s. I’m working my way through the Wainwright’s and I started keeping records/write-ups/photos of the ones completed and is one of the reasons I put together my website. I enjoy reading about other peoples exploits, especially long distance walks, so get your son to put together a website for you and upload your report/pics of the C2C walk :o)

Ah right I wonder why it never got through then? 
Anyway, if you want a look it's at www.lakelandwalker.co.uk As I say, I haven't updated it for a while and the text/images may be a little skewed depending on screen res etc. I need to get it sorted but it's just finding the time!

| getting back to the original question, GPS devices do require to be able to 'SEE' satellites to be able to give a fix, so do not expect brilliant results in the house or in any building. This is a fact of life about satellites, in my previous employment as a skipper of a navigational aids vessel ,we laid navigation buoys to with a metre of the assigned positonn, hydragraphic surveys were carried out using GPS to obtain spot on accuracy, the recieving arial was on a mast well clear of other obstructions. This is imperative to get accurate fixes, even you body will shield the device from a satellite reducing the accuracy. |
