Before I updated my ONE XL to v8.010 it used to take around 30s to boot up. Now I have updated, in takes over 2.5 minutes to boot. I haven't seen anyone else mention this. Does anybody know what the problem could be?

I'm not sure if this is related, but I'm running WE and USA maps on a 2Gb card. When I try to swap between maps, the unit hangs for a few seconds and then reboots (another 2.5 minute wait...) with the map swapped. This never happened on v7. Again, does anybody else have this problem?

Mine did for a while after I upgraded, but now it's back to loading as fast as it used to.

I never changed anything. It just seemed to fix itself.

Strange. The same thing has now happened to mine, it now only takes a few seconds.

However, if I change maps it still reboots and takes ages to do so. I guess it might be doing a hard reboot rather than a soft one.

Now I've just got to work out where all my speed camera warnings have disappeared to...

It takes about 2.5minutes after altering anything with HOME (or perhaps even connecting) - and if you swap maps or soft reset. ie reboot
On normal start up it is much faster.

I too have this on my XL, every time I disconnect from the pc and HOME, it then sits on the splash screen for 2 and a half minutes before you can do anything. I've only updated through home and even deleted all files and reloaded 8.010 to try and resolve my 'help me' issues but it did not affect the boot delay.

No boot up problems here - only thing that seems to have changed is the warning sounds for cameras, guess I could change them back again but I actually prefer the new ones!

good luck

obeone, all my speed camera warning sounds have disappeared. It now gives no audible signal when you are approaching a camera.

What new sounds did you get, and how do you change them?

If I can reply, yes you do get new sounds, to access and try them you navigate from the main menu page 3, to TomTom services, to TomTom safety cameras, to Change warning preferences and then either change the warnings for all or the individual categories listed. I pressed 'no' to 'remove warning', left the time on 15 seconds and then you can try the various sounds.
Hope this helps.

Hi Anjomi
sorry I didn't reply - away from PC for a few days, I didn't personally change them, happened automatically on update.
Thanks for the reply Bensonboo, I'll have a look at the files to see what new alternatives there are Very Happy

Thanks, I'd never been into that menu before, I thought it was subscription stuff. I've turned them back on again.

Thanks again

It is.... the cameras ARE a subscription service if you're mad enough to want to pay to update them!

@ anjomi:

my one xl won't boot with a card in the slot at all! it asks me to remove the card and only boots when the slot's empty! being new to TT's, I am thinking it is because I don't have a certain required file (don't know what yet) on the card - possible?

can someone link me to a post that lists the required files for a bootable map on an SD Card? Thanx.

On a One XL with both SD card slot and internal memory, if you want to use a card you need ALL the system files on the card as the machine will boot from it if it is in the slot.
And once it has booted from either place, it can only use one or the other. You need an x20 or later machine to be able to use BOTH the internal memory and the SD card at the same time.

The easiest way to achieve the right file structure is to copy EVERYTHING from the internal memory onto the card. Once installed the device will then boot from the card.
