This is old, there were several posts on this last year, also the Daily Mail reported it. Rolling Eyes

I think that you can say it was either true as it was in the Daily Mail, or
as members here reported it was rubbish.

The AIM-9 Sidewinder is a heatseeker type weapon (look it up on Google for more public domain information) and will only target a high source of heat, it certainly wouldn't home in on a radar gun (other weapons can do that), the Police camera would have been radar rather than Laser. I am not going to cover the offensive/ defensive capabilities of the jet but I would say this report is complete rubbish - Mike
