Has anyone else noticed interference on the radio in the car when they have the iPAQ/NavMan on? I've tried it in two cars and both have noticeable interference on the radio. Its particularly in poor radio signal strength areas or stations with a weak signal that I notice it.

Yes I have noticed this problem too. My 12v power socket is right next to the radio and the Navman cable runs close to the radio.

Pulling the cable further away helps but does not solve the problem. I expect the plug or cable is not suitable shielded and I might look into replacing it.

Cheers,

Olly

Normally this interference is caused by poor shielding in the 12v Cigar Lighter lead. Remove the power lead and see if the interference still exists.

Yes I had this problem and it must vary from car to car. I had an Alfa 156 with an Alpine head set. The Alfa uses the heated rear screen as an Aerial. I put an extension lead on which helped as it took the power plug away from the radio. I now have a BMW 330D and have had a socket put in a dash pocket away from the radio. When I first plug it in it interferes but then the radio somehow compensates and the interference goes. However in areas of bad reception I still get problems. I have been toying with the idea of wrapping aluminium foil around the plug to see if it screens it.
