R66 website doesn't give any mapping info, but I'd love to know how up to date it is, anybody hear details? |

Hi,
I have the Samsung i780 and although Route 66 navigate 7 works ok it doesnt use the integrated GPS without gpsgate and the traffic information doesnt work.
Based on this I purchased Route 66 mobile 8 yesterday and the website specifically states that it supports the i-gps - so we'll see.
From all I've read its Q2-2007 map data.

I have heard that you cannot use custom POI's such as the speed camera database with this version. Any truth in that? |

Actually Q2-2007 maps is quite lame for a "just released" application. Other newly released applications use Q1-2008 maps. |

I'd be very surprised if it doesn't use custom POIs, and gekko is right, Q2-2007 is 1 year old data before you even load it! I'm not impressed if that's the case! |

The All About Symbian review seems to suggest that in built GPS works, however no to custom POIs. |

The Symbian version of Route 66 version 7 didn't support custom POI files or warnings, the PPC version did, we will have to see what the new version 8 application can handle in way of custom POI files when it comes out fully for the PDA based devices - Mike |

Hi all,
I've just purchased Route 66 Mobile 8 and can confirm it comes with UK Ireland 2007 Q2 and no you can't download your own POIs. I run POI Observer in standalone mode for speed camera warnings.
I also run Destinator 7. Route 66 M8 has far superior and smooth 3D scrolling and you are at the position shown on the map (Destinator always lags behing).
