Yes you are correct Andy, it did say through the home back up it will only allow 1 backup, so I have also just made an explorer backup of the whole TomTom folder. |

Well done! Make as many Explorer backups as you like, preferably before you do ANY updates in the future. Its always a surprise what you forgot you'd changed if you reinstall a backup from a few weeks or months ago!
By the way, you don't need to make backups of your posts here! |

Cheers Andy, that gave me a good laugh me backing up my post's
Thanks everyone for all the great advice, been using TT for a few days and love it to bits, far superior to my 5 year old Navman ICN 630.
I look forward to when I can start to give something back to the forum hopefully soon |

Did they fix the bluetooth issue with the tomtoms???
You have to remember regarding the price that for IQ routes and lane assistance the only real competitor would be the navigon series which are also very expensive. that definitely drives up the price.
Nuvi 760T is £216 now. TomTom 730T RDS - £280 at launch. Not so terrible compared to how we're being fleeced from others.
Let's face it, those budget devices don't necessarily all have TTS, bluetooth and the fancy IQ+lane guidance or mp3 playback. That's what we pay for sadly. We pay for the features and the integration of all the devices+wires.
It's a shame we have to pay so much for those few simple features especially since so many of the expensive devices have bluetooth problems.
If you are worried about paying too much I guess you could get a simple unit with TTS (if important) and then get a seperate bluetooth unit which range from £30 to £50+. Then again, you wouldn't be able to pump the phone+navi+mp3 through the aux-in or however you listen to it and you would have to manage your mp3 player, (recharge or plug in) your bluetooth device as well as the navi.
In comparison to single and double Din units even £250ish for the 730 sounds better...... |

WOW - THANKS!!! I had just assumed that line out was just that - a line out. Have to admit that makes the x30 series less sexy for me in comparison to nuvi and navigon because I AM looking at this level of device for full integration in an older car that doesn't come with onboard nav, bluetooth as you can spec now. and the speakers on the TT, garmin and other units are woeful. |

Hey Mike - reading the X30 user manual I found this:
"You can select different speakers to be used for specific events, such as using the internal speaker for TomTomGO instructions and external speakers for hearing handsfree phone calls and listening to music. " |

The TT will not play Bluetooth calls thru your car audio. Also the TT map updates are MUCH more expensive than Navigon's. Their Fresh Maps policy can give you up to 12 map updates over three years at only $80 total, compared to for example, one single North American update in the US for $129. _________________ Garmin 1695 / 255 / 760 w/MSN - Droid w/Google nav + Navigon - Navigon 8100T - Dakota10 - GPSMap76C - GeoMate Jr. |

This is something quite a few of us have being asking for on a number of occasions - Mike |

thanks for the clarification - very deceptive of them. Unless it has changed in the x30 series I wonder? A simple software update would fix the output issue. Pity they closed the workaround - very peculiar too. |

ah, sorry, didn't realise you had already tried with the 930.
What a pity they are absolute numpties in getting it to work. You guys are right that they didn't think through the niggles of the product or test them. And it is poor in them not even trying to improve the speaker as garmin did with the 800 and 5000 (dual) and navigon with the 8110 I think.
Unless the onboard speaker is ok? I've always found TT speakers to be a bit weedy especially with a little bit of speed - not all of us can afford S-class or Rolls Limos to hear them....in which case we would use the neater onboard system (new Merc system is really quite nice for onboard). |

I think the reason it doesn't work on the line out is some obscure licensing or technical issue with the people who supply the echo cancellation software to TomTom (in a similar way to how Loquendo don't allow the computer voices to be used in the "Home" emulator?) |
