Help please.

The story starts a while ago after my car was broken into and mount and 12v cable were taken. I replaced from e-bay with a genuine mountI believe) and a non genuine 12v cable.
Everything was fine for a few months until I kept getting the battery low level indicator lighting up almost constantly and then intermittently, the unit would switch off duet o no power. I suspected the 12v cable as it had also given interference problems ith the radio reception.
Bite the bullet the other week and installed a new battey and bought a new genuine cable.

I still have the same problem. It's strange but the green light top left of unit lights up no probelm. I've been guessing this is the charge light?

I thought it could be the cradle but, I can't charge the unit on the USB cradle connected to the mains !

Any ideas?

Is this an internal problem with the unit. Is it worth repairing or should I just buy a new one?

Unit is about 2 years old.

Thanks for any help

Steve.

Try a pin reset before dumping the unit.

The official TomTom car chargers put out 2 amps at a regulated 5 volts, most cheapo car chargers will only manage half an amp which is less than the device will consume while switched on.
I would expect your problem is with the cheap e-bay charger, decent high current capable in car chargers are hard to find other than purchasing the correct device - Mike
