Is it possible to adjust the pronunciation of the standard voice files?
The pronunciation is great on two-word roads such as "Manchester Road", "Rochdale Road" etc, but on three-word roads such as "Manchester Old Road" and "Rochdale Road East" it comes out as "Manchesterld Road" and "RochdaleRd East" .
OK if they're local roads you know but not much good in a strange area!

There are no alterations that you as a user can make, IIRC a number of software updates to the x20 units in the early days did make some improvements to road name pronunciation though - Mike |

Thanks for that Mike.
As I currently have the latest S/W (7.481) looks like I'm going to have to rely on V.8 when it finally gets released.
Any idea if I'd lose anything by trying 7.661?

I assume you mean 7,221 instead of the 7,481 release currently on the unit, to be honest I doubt it will alter your issue so I would be inclined to stick with what you have got and await the next update - Mike |

Sorry for the typo - yes I did mean 7.221.
OK will take your advice and learn to live with it and hope v8 fixes it!

The 930 w/navcore 8 still has the same issue. Some highway names still run together. |

Oh dear! Yet another bug TT need to sort out!
Pity really as it was one of the reasons I jumped from a 700 to the 920T. By and large though it's pretty good apart from the bug mentioned.
Wonder if it's the same when travelling abroad? Bad enough trying to understand road names in foreign languages without having them all run together as well!
The other reason I bought the 920T was for the Traffic which as we all now know is next to useless. Needless to say I'll be reading all the stuff on here about HD for at least 12 months before I consider buying into that!
