'Best settings' depend on many personal factors, is your priority getting maximum battery life? _________________ I like mapping, I like mapping, I like mapping and I like to map! |

Well someone here did an experiment with the battery consumption of the screen brightness levels and it was very clear that having the screen at 100% really did suck up the juice so keep it at 70ish% and you'll be doing well.
There is a new low power mode which will restrict the level to about 70% and also only update the position on the screen every 4 seconds rather than 1 second which is also good news _________________ I like mapping, I like mapping, I like mapping and I like to map! |

And if you can stretch to it, get the LiPo battery pack, money well spent. _________________ Darren Griffin - Editor |

The best way to learn what it does is to experiment. You are unlikely to mess it up completely but if you do loose your way (metaphorically) there is a default setting in the settings menu.
I find I need to change the settings frequently depending on its use. Perhaps SatMap may consider having two or three user defined 'Custom' settings like on many digital cameras where one's preferred options can be saved for easy access.
Use the advanced power control set to advanced. A downside of this is though is that you loose the ability to set the track up option. So you see it really depends on how you want it to be. |
