|
|
My TT910 has developed a fault. I have had it 13 months and the warranty has just expired. Just my luck.
When it's connected to an In Car Charger it will turn on, find it's GPS position and then turn itself off again. It might do this once, it might do this half a dozen times. It won't stay on for longer than 30-40 seconds.
It won't turn on at all if it's not connected to a charger.
I have tried rebooting, but have had no success.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Is it possible that the battery needs to be replaced?
If yes, can I replace it? |

You sure? Most TT's have a two year warranty.
It will tell you in the EULA in the "licences" folder on the TT itself. Make sure you read the right one. |

Assuming you have made a backup have a look in the "Licences" folder and open the file;
lw-english-no_us can.txt
using WordPad (Note Pad will open it but it makes a mess of the end of line terminations)

1) TomTom International B.V. (“TomTom”) warrants to you that the Hardware will be free from defects in workmanship and materials under normal use (“Defects”) for a period of two (2) years from the date that the Hardware was first purchased by you (“Warranty Period”). During the Warranty Period the Hardware will be repaired or replaced at TomTom’s choice (“Limited Warranty”) without charge to you for either parts or labour. This Limited Warranty covers the replacement of the Hardware only. If the Hardware is repaired after the Warranty Period has expired, the Warranty Period for the repair will expire six (6) months after the date of repair. |
The exclusions clause does not mention battery so you should be OK, the post you took my quote from was a site member who had purchased a re-furbished device which does come with a different warranty to an outright new purchase.
Have you tried a different charger though? - what about when it is connected to the home dock and the supplied mains charger, does it behave the same way or not, either way you have it under warranty when you read the extract above (or look at the files on the unit) changing a battery in one of these devices is not the easiest of jobs unless you are used to handling electronics - Mike |
