I have put a Garmin 760T at the top of my wish list (to replace my existing Navman 530) and recently visited a local Halfords to see and feel a unit. The unit certainly looked and felt good quality and all but confirmed my decision.

BUT, when I asked for a demo journey from Bristol to Cardiff the unit could not find Cardiff! This turned out to be because they are in (for Garmin) different countries even though they are both in the UK.

So my question is - is there a simple way around this, or would I have to change countries when I reach the (England/Wales) toll booths?

The answer will obviously affect my buying decision.

Thanks.

Assuming you are starting in England and travelling to Cardiff all you need to do is set the destination to Wales, Cardiff

Same as if you wanted Paris you'd choose France then Paris.

The problem is the unit automatically assumes your destination is in the country you are starting in so if you type in Cardiff whilst in England it won't find Cardiff..

No need to do anything at the border.

That's good news. Thank you. I still think that the UK should be a single entity for SatNav systems.

I do see what you mean but for everyone who agrees there is probably someone who thinks Scotland, Wales and Ireland need to be seperate from England. After all the UK is a collection of countries, therefore it makes sense to treat them seperately, like the countries of Europe.
