Map Data Unavailable, constant USB blue screen iCN 520

I am new to Sat Nav so please be patient with me.
Bought second hand NAVMAN ICN i520 with UK maps on card and Europe maps on card, I have everything, disks etc.
Problem is now after working fine in France, it now either just goes to the USB blue screen or loads all the maps and seems OK at start up but when GO TO is selected is says "no map data available"
When connected to my computer the maps are in fact loaded onto the unit but when you go to MAPS they are in RED and not ticked, ticking thye boxes is impossible.
I think they may not be registered or activated???
Last night I put the UK maps card in and it worked, but this morning it just went to the blue USB screen again.
France maps are never available.
I have re-set, reloaded software etc but no luck
Can anyone help??

I strongly suspect that there may be an issue with registering the maps with Navman.

Perhaps that is worth a telephone call.

The second issue is that the maps have to be loaded via SmartST, it isn't just a matter of swapping from one card to another, AFAIK.
