If the UI is this slow, traffic via the RDS-TMC aerial still does not give proper delays on v8 software... what are TomTom playing at??

Are they about to repeat their past mistakes? I like their products when they work and lots of others seem to as well... but this is not looking good at the moment.

TT Support have confirmed it has only been offically released in France/Italy and they were suprised that pixmania were supplying the UK but hey they are retailer and see a fast buck by being first!!!

But if elsewhere are shipping at the end of the month, what you get in the box in the UK is likely to be the same isn't it? This stuff has been shipped from China afterall.

So I can only assume early buyers in the UK will have to download the UK voices from TomTom when available. So they are shipping these too early. And it's not even new hardware inside.

Dennis you said: "That's what Vicky is already doing - you don't get great screenshots like that with a camera!"

Well earlier she didn't and has redone them now using this approach. And we appreciate her effort Very Happy
Yes, apologies to you and Tim both - the dreaded edit function again!! Trouble is, I'm hanging on her every word and can't wait to gobble up everything she posts, but I'd been out when she was collecting it and arrived on this thread later.

The edit function on another forum I use a lot is a recent addition but times out after 5 minutes for non-mods - so we can correct errors. Sometimes when you can amend what was said a long time before means it's missed and no obvious trail for others.

Vicky - thanks for re-doing the pictures; I really just meant for future reference, but this is great.

Thanks to everyone else who pointed out that the first pictures were done with a camera - Dennis had me thinking I was going crazy for a moment!

I see little point in running vs8 Navcore software with the old v715 maps, they will not contain the necessary data for the Lane Assist or reality view, this will also mess up any TomTom Home derived updates to the 720 that might be released, the only difference you will see is the Terry's Chocolate Orange" colour scheme - Mike

Great posts Vicky.

One thing I notice from the screen-shots...

The 7.480 and .481 issue with the traffic maps persists into 8.xxx

That is to say, in your first screenshots, the plain 'gray' lines of issues, they SHOULD be coloured - amber for roadworks, or blue for lane restrictions or closures etc.

In 7.48x they are grey. Revert back to 7.221 and they are the correct colours.

So I see that this error or bug is prevalent in the new 8.xxx too.

Me, I think I am now more convinced than ever I will be leaving the x30's to the early adopter beta testers.

Grins.

Thanks for the really helpful posts though.

I Agree Mike

As per the title - just because you can

I just wanted to check if 8 was compatible with the older maps,

I will be slinging it back to a backup of navcore 7 later on (Although will have a play first!)

Why this obsession with the colour schemes shadamehr? Does it really matter, so long as an incident is a different colour from a "non-incident"? Considering the text or symbol tells us what the incident is, surely the colour scheme is in some respects superfluous? How many of us are red hot colour scheme recognisers? To be honest, I had not realised there were different colours for different types of incident until you took issue with it. And I really don't care what the incident is - accident, flood, fire, lane closure - it's all the same to me, because I won't need to deal with them (e.g. I'm not a fireman or roadworker, etc) - what's important is whether it's going to delay me and by how much.

Might it just be NOT a bug, but that TomTom in this version have changed to just one simple colour instead of grabbing resources to manage colours? - it certainly looks that way to me, in the same way as they have reduced the details in maps (e.g. less bendy).
