Any suggestions for a decent gps& software for a toshiba e400 for UK usage in car and if possible mobile.

Sorry. As far as I am aware no one has managed to connect a GPS device successfully to the E400. Don't be fooled by suppliers offering cables for the E400. I've yet to get one to work.

There are plenty of them about for e400.
Most are of Hiacom package - 204-E or 204-S.
Make a little search and you should be able to find some vendors or on ebay.
