After 7 years of duty I changed my computer to a new one with windows vista, at times I question why. Now every time that I try and load POI'S onto the memory card, or for that matter the unit itself, through POI loader (I have a garmin nuvi 610) the loader says that there are 'no data files in that directory. Please specify a directory that contains at least one file with a .csv or .gpx extension' . However when I use 7-zip file manager to unzip the speed cams there is no problem, I use the same program for the POI'S. I have tried loading the POI'S through both old and new versions of POI loader and I have the same problem. Does anyone know what I can do to solve this problem? |

Where is the folder containing your POI files located? - if it is on the desk top Vista seems to treat it differently, put the folder with the POI files in within its own directory on the C drive and try again.
I spent hours the other day trying to unzip an e-mail attachment that I had stored on the desktop with no success at all, when I moved it to the drive it worked fine - I to am new to the delights of Vista - Mike |

that's because you download a zip file which windows classes as a 'folder' and will 'open' it natively. in reality it only shows you the contents of the file rather than actually unzipping the contents!
using 7-zip (or any other decompression software) actually gets the files out of the zip file so that poi loader can use them.
