North America Map

I have the go 720 and the North America map on SD card.

how do I install it.

I tried just putting the card in but nothing.

Can anyone help?

I bought it from ebay (i know!!)

it has one folder called North_America_2gb.

The folder is full of files similar to the western europe folder.

That's all I know.

TT Home sees the card and the fact that nearly all of it is full but doesn't see the folder or it's contents.

You've probably been done....

Every map sold by TomTom is "locked" to a particular GO.

Until recently, a genuine TomTom SD card came with a card with a "product code" which you entered on a form at www.ttcode.com along with with the "device code" of your Go. That would create an "activation code" to allow the map to work on your device only.

Recently (since most maps are downloaded direct from TomTom now), they have used another method, where TomTom's PC/Mac utility "Home" is used to download and activate the map on your Go. To be honest, I'm not sure which method they use for activating a map on an SD card now, as they have only just re-started selling them that way.

There are usually ways to get illegal copies of ANY software, and I'm sure the same is true of maps for satnavs, if that's what you've inadvertantly bought, I doubt you'd find anyone here who knows how to get it working (or that would tell you if they did!).

All I can suggest is that you contact the seller, and either ask him how it should be installed, or get your money back if you think it's dodgy.
