tomtom 520 locks up with new router and TMC plugged in

I have had a problem with my 520 whereby sometimes when I choose a new destination, the tomtom just locks up, then reboots itself, but only when the TMC is plugged in. I have also had occasional message that a file cannot be saved.

The first time this happened was when I'd got back from France, having used a french map stored on an SSD card. I thought the file saving message was related to the SSD so I removed it, and it worked for a bit. THen it started doing this freeze/rebooting more often, and without the card. Occasionally, it's reset whilst I was driving (which is annoying because it starts routing you back to your previous destination).

Has anyone else had this problem? I can't find mention of it specifically anywhere.
