Lost Mike...

Sorry about my brief post earlier...here in more detail.

I have GPSBabel on my pc - this is the most recent version from their website.

Use Satsync to Export the .map file from the SatMap. This will be saved as a .gpx file on your pc.

Open GPSBabel - In the "translate from" box select the .gpx file you have just saved.

In the "translate to" box select Tracklogs format and type in the name of the file to save

There are 3 traffic lights "Routes" "Waymarks" "Tracks" have them all selected as green.

There is a box (on the lower right of the screen) that says "Filters" - click this and in the first box on the menu select "Routes to Tracks". Return to main screen.

Click the "lets go" box. You should then get a report that the file translated successfully. A .trl file should have been created on your pc.

Run Tracklogs and open the .trl file - you should see the track.

Hope this helps. If not let me know.

Thanks rog62 - that works. Well done.

Sorry but I was getting my GPSU and GPSbabel mixed up I've been spending all day fighting with Excel macros and it has addled my brain.

I will pass the good news on to the Tracklogs guy who has proved so understanding of our problems.

also.....not quite sure what is going on here....maybe I need to read the user manual in more detail.... Confused

...having just upgraded to the latest software on my SatMap... I now find that I have a .gpx file created directly on the SatMap only visible when I view from SatSYnc - which seems to be a file relating to the trip log. This can be copied to the PC by SatSync (not exported).

Tracklogs can open this file directly...it has thousands of track points - that can be filtered down by editing in Tracklogs ("Tools" "Points Filter")....it also seems to generate mutliple tracks each time it looses the GPS lock (for example if you go inside for a time and then continue on). So on opening on Tracklogs the primary track is the first leg with subsequent parts of the trip showing as further tracks. It is simple to edit these together with a couple of clicks in Tracklogs...

Anyone else out there found these .gpx files and tried loading them to mapping software.....??
