Hi,

There are some things on my Nuvi 760 which I'm not interested in - The Garmin supplied camera database, all the foreign language voices etc etc.

Assuming I make backups, is it OK to simply delete things like the unwanted CyclopsSample files in the \garmin\poi directory and the unwanted voices from the \garmin\voice directory etc etc?

How much space did you gain?

does the unit run faster without the bloat?
300MB on a 2GB device is not bad.

Haven't noticed any difference.
Should imagine it wont make any difference because it's mostly stuff thats not loaded into memory unless needed.

I've done it, didn't speed anything up but just freed up some space. All still works as expected.

There's also some Audible files, some Help files in other languages and in the Text file there's loads of different languages. Does anyone know if it's O.K to delete these ?

Thanks Keith.

Yes you can, I've deleted all the Audible stuff and the only thing left in my help directory is British_English and all is working well.

Do you have to delete the Garmin speed camera data base to be able to use the PGPSW camera files. If not, how does the unit distinguish between the two sets of data. If both sets are present will it cause problems?

You don't have to. You can just switch them off in the Tools, Settings, Proximity Points, Change... screen by unticking Garmin Safety Cameras.

Best you do switch them off otherwise you'll get duplicate and out of date alerts....
