just tried to install a splash screen onto my 510 and it didnt work - why? it goes straight in and bypasses the screen. I copied the one I wanted into widows photo editor. Saved it to my desktop. Renamed it splashw. Saved it as a bitmap. Went into the files on my 510 deleted the original file labeled splashw and copied the new one into the same place. When I reboot my tomtom I dont get any screen at all. What do I have to do to put in a splash screen as i am obviously not doing it right

The picture has to be the right size/shape and format. Just renaming any picture won't work.

For widescreen models it has to be a 480 x 272 pixels bitmap

Also, from what you say in your post it looks like you do not have your PC set up to show the file extensions correctly.
The file needs to be called "splashw.bmp".
If all you are seeing is "splashw." you have no way of knowing if you're calling the file "splashw." "splashw.bmp" or even "splashw.bmp.bmp"!

you need to open My Computer or Windows Explorer and:
Go to the 'Tools' Menu,
Select 'Folder Options'
Select the 'View' tab
Scroll down the list of entries and UN-tick "Hide extensions for known file types"

Finally, can you use more descriptive titles than "help"? Makes it hard to find posts later.
