I've had my i3 for a while now and has worked well since I got it. I've always used it plugged in, but the other day I decided to try it on battery power in my friend's car (his cig lighter outlet is busted). Now the batteries are close to new and have a good amount of juice left in them. Every time I took a route, the unit would shut itself off without warning right before taking a turn. I can't confirm if this is the result of the firmware (2.60) because I have never used previous firmwares under battery power before.
Note that navigation works fine when it's plugged in. Anyone else have this problem? |

What's the battery settings set to? (ie NiMH, or alkaline) |

Which presumably matches the type of batteries in your i3?
In which case, try some brand new batteries.
What version of firmware are you running? |

| Well here's the problem, I put in new batteries and still had that problem. Yes, they were alkaline and it's set to alkaline. I am running 3.30. |

Well if it were me, I'd backup any favourites with easygps, and downgrade the firmware to 2.70, and see if it still happens. |

| I've today experienced the same problem. In my case it seems (hopefully!!) to have been remedied by the replacement with NMIH batteries of what I suspect were faulty NIMH batteries. |

I have this problem to even if plugged in to car or on the batt
is there some sort of fault

| Hi Shirley. Almost certainly your batteries. Had a similar problem myself last weeek. I usually use rechargeable and keep plugged into car but left cable in another car and the usual batteries were flat so so used ordinary ones. Ran fine for around 2 hours then just switched off. Swapped for fresh ones and worked fine. |
