Hi,
I have been trying to download the Renault poi's, after I unzip them and then copy to my sd card, I get a message" Cannot copy Renault:The directory or file cannot be created". I have successfully downloaded other files tonight eg Chrysler. Can anyone please assist by telling me what I am doing wrong.
Thanks,

We would need to know the Device you have and how you are copying the Files.
As a guess I would say that you are using a Windows PC and you are inadvertently trying to send a File into a another File, instead of a Folder.
Or your SD Card is Full. _________________ Richard

Hi Richard,
Sorry, I forgot to post any details; Medion MDPPC 150; TT6 ;Map Ver 6.75, with a 2gb sd card and yes I am using XPsp2. I was copy and pasting using a card reader. The Renault poi's are in a folder with other poi's, they all copy and paste successfully, it is only the Renault one which gives the error message. The sd card has plenty of space on it.Tthanks again for your reply.

Just checked the download file. Nothing wrong there.
As you don't mention any error messages when unzipping, the file itself would seem to be OK.
Do you get the error when copying more than one file at a time? And are the other Files copied OK?
Grasping at straws here. Try changing the name to see if it makes a difference, and then changing it back when (if) it gets to then SD Card.
Are you using Drag 'n' Drop, or Copy/Paste, because they give different error messages and work slightly differently. _________________ Richard

Hi Richard,
I am getting the error when I copy all the poi files contained in a folder, the others will copy, it is only the Renault files(2) which will not copy to the sd card.
I have just changed the name, but they will not copy to the sd card.
In windows, I am working in My Computer-File and Folder Tasks-Copy this File, all the other poi's in the folder will copy, it is only the Renault which will not.
I will try both Drag'n'Drop and Copy/Paste for Renault only.
Thank you for your help.

Just tried both Drag'n'Drop and Copy/Paste, and still get the error message-" Cannot copy Renault:The directory or file cannot be created".

I've seen one or two possible solutions by Googling, but I'm not happy with them.
Try this. Can you see the File extensions when viewed in Explorer?
If not can you 'turn then on' in Folder Options and then see what you have after the name Renault. Should be OV2 and BMP. _________________ Richard

Couple of extra thoughts... Have you tried re-downloading the Renault files (just in case it was a corrupt download first time). Also, check that there isn't any Renault files in the folder on the SD card - if there is, try deleting them first.
If you download another POI set (whether you want it or not), does that copy across OK? _________________ Gerry

Hi Richard,
The file extentions are; BMP 1.51KB OV2 17.4KB. I will also try the solutions which Gerry C has suggested.
Thanks,

Hi,
It would seem to be a problem with the card. I have just downloaded 2 poi's and it still gave the same error message, so I tried to copy and paste to a different card and was successfull. I don't really understand as it is a new SanDisk 2.0gb card which had never been used before, but it allowed all the other poi's, speed camera update and Maps to be loaded.
Thanks to both of you for your time and help.

Hi,
It is the OV2 file which is causing the problem, I have now copied the BMP file to the sd card.

You are copying the Files into the Map Folder, aren't you?
You can get that error message if you try to put too many Files into the Root of a Drive/Device, especially with a FAT/FAT32 Format. _________________ Richard

Hi Richard,
I have solved the problem by taking a radical step! I had a spare 2gb sd card, so I loaded the map(Western Europe), Speed Camera updates and the POI's on to it, and everything is now fine, even the Renualt poi. It's just as well that sd cards are so cheap-(£7.49 at Morrison's)!
I shall format the other card and use it in my camera.
Thank you so much for your help and guidance.
