Hi. I've been running TT Nav 5 on my MDA Compact III happily for some months. Only complaint is that it sometimes takes an inordinate amount of time to lock on to a signal.
However the phone recently locked up completely, after which TT couldn't locate a GPS device. Can anybody out there with a similar HTC variant advise what configuration settings I should choose (GPS hardware, port etc).
I forgot what I set it to by trial and error last time. It's working but takes 15 mins to burst into life. Phil

Have you been messing with the GPS applet on the phone? Start/ Settings_System Tab/ External GPS

GPS program Port "COM4"
Hardware Port (None) Baud Rate 9600
Access Manage GPS Automatically ticked

With the above settings dialed into the phone, go back to TomTom GPS setup and re-select as I defined above - what version of TomTom Navigator have you got on the device? - Mike

I'm not aware of ever touching those settings Mike. I'm running Navigator 5. I've set up as you suggested and I'm still waiting for the unit to find a valid GPS signal. It actually (hey! just found a signal - about 3 minutes but I am in the house!) started to work yesterday on Other NMEA, Comm 7 and 9600 baud, but it was about 30 mins into the drive. Fortunately I knew where I was going!!
Thanks for your help on this Mike. Phil

Moving off before your GPS receiver has acquired a signal will compound the problem of time to first fix, it should only take around 30 seconds to achieve this when stationary, switch the unit on as you leave the house, by the time you set off it will have worked out where it is - Mike
