Did you in dicate that satellite display was removed from the 710? As far as I know it's still in all the 700 series. Hold the satellite bars on the top of the page for about 4 seconds

weird that they changed it to having to hold it down... will try it later on and add it to the review!

I've updated to a 760 today and the satellite screen is there - hold down the green bars for around 2 seconds

A couple of questions... (well 4...)

1) Would i be right in thinking you can charge the Nuvi 7xx off a USB lead and then use it for short journeys without the power / traffic lead?

2) Down to what class of road does the traffic work on? Obviously it doesn't cover back streets and B roads but how about A roads?

3) With the traffic lead, do you still have to run a line out along the windscreen? I think i can see one in your screenshots....

4) Do we know what the Nuvi 8xx will offer over the 7xx range? I understand there is a remote control device and voice control.....

I really want a 760 but my bank account has just been gate crashed by HMRC.... Crying or Very sad

I'm quite impressed with it. I upgraded from a 660FM - be aware that the ones in Halfords don't include traffic warnings via a GTM21, so I bought mine elsewhere.

Display is good, I upgrade to 2.60 and the TTFF is much quicker than the 660, I am suprised that the accuracy on the road (hidden satellite screen) seems to be the same on the 760 as it was on the 660 with the flip-out aerial. Munus are very similar to the 660FM - traffic icon is hidden in a sub-menu when no traffic is encountered on route - don't know why Garmin can have this on the front page. The actual traffic map is much better as it states "No traffic or traffic on route", it then lists the road numbers rather than the nearest one as the 660FM did, so this is a considerable improvement.

I haven't used the alternate keyboard and the menus seem to be clearer. I have noticed that my unit displays the POIs from MaFt's site whilst on a normal screen (ie not zoomed in). Screen refresh is good and the FM tunes in .1 steps down to 87.6FM, not .2 steps and 88.7FM as I have seen some reviews suggest.

The Where AM I is a nice touch and the unit registers where you removed the Nuvi from the car mount. It also gives you an option to record a trip log to show where you have been - I think you can export the log but I haven't tried yet. Unit feels pretty solid and the cradle / mount work well too so no regrets about moving from the 660FM.

i can guarantee that the 710 i reviewed was in 0.2mhz intervals...

like you, i could not find any way to export the trip log nor did the manual offer much on the subject! other than "you can show it on the map"

Shocked So there's a Traffic version and a non-Traffic version? I thought all the 7xx were Traffic? Hmm perhaps thats why some are advertised a 7xxT and others as 7xx....

Addtion: Just checked Halfords and it states Traffic: No and they are offering it for £350! All the 760s i've seen with Traffic are £230-£260...

Can you tell me where you got yours?

I had a go with a 660FM at the weekend and was impressed. Looks like i'll be even more impressed with the 760.... Laughing

It now tunes in 0.1mhz steps - I was suprised at this given yours and another review said 0.2mhz. It also goes down to 87.6fm which is below radio 2.

PaulB
Halfords sell a non traffic version for £350 and the 660FM for £249 (was £299) with traffic receiver.

I wasn't sure about saying where I got mine from on this formum but as you asked, it was Handtec for £237 ex delivery.

Thanks. Can't think of a reason why you can't mention where you got it from though....

Have you seen a 760 in Halfords or are you going by whats on the website? Could that be a mistake on their website?

I wasn't sure about "advertising" commercial websites and whether this was against forum rules.

I looked at a 760 in Halfords and the assistant showed me the contents as I was surprised their product description excluded traffic - standard car charger only, no traffic aerial (GTM21)

I'm sure you can mention shops and websites as long as they are not your own. People who come in posting they've spotted a bargin on XYZ Sat Navs and it turn out to be there own site is not on though...

Hmm. £100 more and no traffic? Bargin!! Shocked I haven't seen anyone else advertise a non-traffic version.

Oh and another question. What would the equivalent TomTom model be? Or is it not that simple?
