Will the version 7 of the software work on the x-950.

As far as I know - no, as I'm pretty sure it is only compatible with 960-980s. You can check through these forums and the VM website to be absolutely certain - somewhere there is a statement about compatibility but I can't remember where. (Except the VM site does say V7 is for the units I mention) - eg

"Please note that this patch is intended for ViaMichelin Navigation devices equipped with version 7 of the ViaMichelin Navigation software (X-960, X-970T, X-980T and ViaMichelin Navigation New Edition series)" in the Help section about the V7.0.3 patch update.
