I have a 920T, I want to use the built in computer voice to warn me of speed cameras.

I changed the name of the speed cameras to " warning speed camera ahead speed limit 30"

Then alter the 920 to read the name of the file, and all works GREAT apart from one thing.

When it reads the camera warning the pause between reading the file and the computer voice telling me the distance is none so i hear this " warning speed camera ahead speed 30 0.4miles" with no pause.

thats 30 naught point 4 miles in one breath, very confusing.

How can I put a pause in the spoken words, tried a period, a comma, nothing seems to work.

Anyone solved this.

If you follow the set-up guide written for the 910 it details setting up the TTS for spoken alerts, you will find it Here - Mike

Thanks for that, will try it, but I am not typing in the words through the device, I am changing the file name, this is much easier and easier to edit.

will let you know if it works

Thanks

Either use ogg files or type the warning into the device, using the POI file name will work but it won't permit use of any enties like comma to slow the text down, this method also adds the distance to the end of the spoken alert, the method in the guide does not - Mike

If it is the effort of entering the text that's bothering you, can it be done on the PC keyboard while in Home?

(I might be wrong, maybe it is one of the bits where the emulator isn't the same as the real thing), I cant get at a PC with Home on it to check at the moment).

Also, surely, the other problem with your filename method is that you are going to have to rename all 31 .ov2 files EVERY fortnight when the database gets updated?
Type in the warning text and you only do it once.

Having tried this (using Home to enter the speed camera warnings) it simply doesn't work, the option is greyed out to use the TTS option unless things have changed with the newer versions of Home - Mike

I use the Liz Whittaker OGG files - they're right every time, I don't need to do them over again when I get new camera updates, it's easy (see my signature). For one of my other devices, I created a few of my own by recording the grandchildren on my super (nearly) new expensive MacBook Pro 17 and using Audacity to boost the volume, then export as OGG files. Impresses Vera so much that I get to feel clever (Andy taught me how to do it, but I don't tell her that!).
