Both my 30 Gatso and Mobile files are missing. I've tried deleting the lot and reinstalling, and going back to an older datbase, but still no joy. All the other speed files are there. (TT Speed Zones Complete.)If I try to navigate to either of the 30's above I just get 'No POI found'. Any ideas ? |

(Apologies to Darren, I was 9/10s of the way though writing this and got called away so didn't send it in time...)
Sounds like the usual "too many POI files loaded" problem.
On v6 software you can have a maximum of 100 user POI files loaded
On v7, the number is not fixed but varies dependant on your model (for older models it isn't much more than 100). Above that number and SOME of them will not show up (not necessarily even the last ones you added).
This number INCLUDES the files for TomTom's own camera database AND the Map Share correction files for POIs you have subscribed to.
The only way to find out how many relevant files you have is to connect to the PC, close down "Home" if it tries to open, and then, using Windows Explorer, find the TomTom (Windows will have assigned it a new drive letter), then go into the map folder (called "Western Europe" or "UK and IE" or something like that, depending on your map version).
Check you have "Hide extensions for known file types" UN-ticked in the Explorer options (Tools / Folder Options / View tab / tenth box down in the "Advanced settings" window)
Now count the number of files with the ".ov2" extension at the end (including any with names like "CAxxxx.ov2")
I bet there's more than 100.
If so, you need to trim down the number of POIs you have. |

Thanks...can't I just attempt to delete them on the PocketPC itself ? I also assume that it doesn't matter which camera database you download, as the total number of cameras are the same for each category ? And this month alone, over 300 cameras were modified in someway...which is way over the 100 you mentioned, or have I missed something here ? (I'm still on V 6.030) |

The limit discussed affects the number of 'categories' and not the individual POIs themselves. Our single file version of the database is 'ONE' category. The speed zoned is however 29 or thereabouts (Gatso20 is one category, Gatso30 is another etc etc in the speed zoned version). Both have the same number of individual POis when totalled up.
You have a maximum limit on the number of categories you can install. the number of individual POIs these can contain is not limited in this way. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Sorry, I was in "stand-alone hardware-based satnav" mode!
Of course you can examine and delete them on the PocketPC itself. |

Sorry to be pedantic, but. you have around 29 categories, TT have around 12 pre installed, and I have my own 8 categories....nowhere near the 100 ?
I deleted all your temp mobile ones to 'make more room', but still can't access the 30 Gatso/Mobile files...I was going to delete all categories, apart from them just to see if that would pull them up, but before I do that, I'm sure that you'll probably reprimand me for not trying something else! Worst case scenario, I shall start over with a fresh SD card. |

As long as you follow rule number 1 first and back up the files it's worth a shot. Have you tried re-downloading the file just in case your's got corrupted on the original download?
I'm unsure of the category limit on v6.030. _________________ Gerry

Thanks...I must have re downloaded at least 6 times and a couple of older versions as well ! It's strange because when they're going over to the map after download, it virtually stops at both 30's for, it seems, ages, before moving on. |

they're the biggest files with most cameras in so will take slightly longer!

Are you using Active Sync or transfering files via a card reader? - if possible try the card reader and see if the problem is still present - Mike |

I trust Active Sync about as much as I do TT Home, make your own decision from that but I only use either software product when no other options are available - Mike |

Wasn't there a limit of 39 POI cstegories on one version of TomTom? It does appear that this could be the problem! |

Version 5,x software had a limit of 39 custom POI Categories, in this case the user has 6,030 so the limit is 100 Custom POI Categories - Mike |
