It's a nice idea in theory, but I don't think it would ever be accurate enough to make it worthwhile.
For a start, every different voice set says different things and some have various chimes or klaxons at the front, so you would have to work it out for your particular audio files. This isn't relevant of course if you are using the text to speech method for your warnings.
And secondly, the POI alerts take a rather low priority on the TomTom, so if there are any other navigation instructions being played, the alert gets delayed until it's finished.
So my personal opinion is that it will never work to your satisfaction, I'm afraid. |

Not sure I understand, why would this distance not be the same as the warning distance you configured? If you've configured the Warn when near Alert you are asked at what distance you wish to be alerted. So if you chose '600 yards' for example then you should set your spoken warning as 'warning 30 MPH gato in 600 yards' ?
Alternatively, why not just use or pre-prepared spoken voice alerts? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Reading your post through again, do you just want to know how far you would have travelled in the time it says "Warning, Gatso ahead, in xxx yards..." so you can add that number to your warning distance? |

Andy-P has the idea, i am using text to speech but he is correct in saying it has a low priority, what i am finding is that once the distance to the POI is reached and the speech kicks in i have already travelled many yards so its no good just saying the POI distance, all i want to know is how far it is to the camera "round the corner"! by the way i only use Kate as it is a computer generated speech which can also read out street names Etc. BTW - anyone know how i can remove the existing tomtom cameras ? thanks for all your help |

But any guesstimate would be pointless as it would depend on the speed you were travelling?
You can disable Tomtom's camera from the PLUS Services menu or remove them completely using HOME. _________________ Darren Griffin |
