Can anyone help, I have a mio 168 running tomtom, and it works fine untill one day it crashed, lucky for me I had kept a software copy on my pc, so got it up and running again, however, so When i am out and about again, I purchased a second had unit.

It did have navman smartst on it, but it didnt work, could not pick up a signal.. so I though i would loaded in my tomtom, which seems to work finem its loaded in ok...but still it searches for a gps device, stating no gps device something or something like that, I have done soft and hard re-sets, and left it in my car on the cradle for power, and a clear view of htre sky for hours in the hope it will find some thing.... nothing, so can anyone help, or have i just got a duff unit.

Lucky that my old unit is fine...

ian

Go to Change Preferences/ GPS Status and see if the little yellow/ blue disk in the top right corner is spinning, if it is take the device outside and wait for it to aquire a signal.
If it fals to spin tap the configure button, on the first screen select "Other NMEA GPS Receiver" set the Baud rate to 4800 then pick the port the GPS device appears on something like GPS On SP2.
Once it is selected correctly the litlle yellow/ blue disk will rotate and you can take it outside to acquire a signal - Mike

When you say your other 168 software is working correctly is this GPS based software? - if so make sure you shut it down BEFORE starting TomTom as it will be tying up the GPS port on the device - Mike

Hi Mike, the other unit is also a mio 168.. running tomtom.. i am so frustrated and confused, I contacted the person that sold me the unit, he stated that he had tried tomtom and it didnt work so he carried on using the navman software, and stated that he uninstalled it as he no longer used it for route planning..

Personally I think he tried tomtom could not get it to work and then could not get navman's SmartST to work hence he sold it via ebay to me..

I have all the discs for the navman application disc then three contry maps, on version 3 disc 1 being uk etc...

However I dont wan tto use navman, i want my tt6 on it..
