Just something i noticed on my screen for the map sizes for the 910 and 720.
Both maps are the 710.1561 version.
910. 1988.44mb
720. 1743.20mb
Probably a logical explanation but i don't know it, when i was speaking to a CS guy at TomTom he didn't seem all that keen on clueing me up.
I dare say it may have something to do with compression factors. |

Looked a bit more into it and i think Richard has got it.
The titles are different the 720 having the smaller version.
That said though, although the downloaded sizes are as stated, the size on the actual unit is smaller in both cases.
As for Andys theory i'm not sure, you may have read i was messing about with the ASR on the 720 and transferred the cspeech files from one to the other just to see if they were different and though the dates are different the sizes are the same, interestingly when you get the "file exists, do you wish to replace" dialogue box, the sizes are the same but the 910 says the file is larger. Interesting, but confusing. |

When you say "on my screen", where are we looking? TT or PC?
If I go to the TT mapshop, select EITHER 910 or 720, the Western Europe map offered is the same (1785 MB download)
To throw another spanner into the works, note that on the 720 downloads page, the map of Western and Central Europe is actually SMALLER than the one of Western Europe at 1641MB, (as opposed to 2036MB for the 910 version) |

Andy i am talking about my maps listed in the TT home box on my computer with the 910 attached.
when i hit the "more info " button it gives these sizes.
To open another can of worms the ACTUAL size on the units again on the home screen is only 1900.5mb for the 910 and 1703mb for the 720.
The only reason i've brought this up is, you would think that if a download says it is 1988mb, then that is what you should have, taking into account the 910 is the flagship with all bells and whistles. If you had say a 510 etc with not all facilities available then perhaps you could say the download could be smaller. |

A big problem is in the way that sizes are reported.
1MB = 1000KB or, ....... 1MB = 1024KB
1990MB (at 1024) = 2036MB (at 1000).
